Seattle Surprise Proposal Photographer at Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden
We began their engagement session at Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden, a hidden gem for proposals near Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. This location is ideal for couples traveling into Washington because it offers:

We started with lightly posed couples photos to help them get comfortable in front of the camera — a key step when planning a surprise proposal photoshoot in Seattle. Once they relaxed, we moved into a more candid, natural flow.
That’s when Eladia handed Joe a small metal wire box.
Inside were 12 handwritten letters — one for every month of 2025.

They took their time reading each letter together, letting the moment unfold without interruption. No rush. No direction. Just presence.
When Joe reached the final letter, Eladia surprised him completely — she proposed to him.
Joe had proposed in the past, but timing and personal circumstances hadn’t aligned. For Eladia to be the one asking this time was unexpected and incredibly emotional. His reaction was immediate — shock, joy, and pure light all at once.

Golden Hour Engagement Photos + A Once-in-a-Lifetime Shot
After the proposal, we continued photographing them throughout the garden as the soft winter golden hour light in Seattle filtered through the trees.
Then something rare happened.
A 727 airplane flew directly behind them, visible through the trees, perfectly framed in the background — a once-in-a-lifetime capture that tied their travel story into a single frame.

Ending the Night at Astra Lumina Seattle
To close out the night, we headed into the city for Astra Lumina Seattle, hosted at the Seattle Chinese Garden.
The immersive light installations created a completely different atmosphere — glowing pathways, layered light, and artistic environments that made for incredibly unique engagement photos. Walking, talking, sipping warm drinks, and soaking in the experience together was the perfect way to celebrate their newly engaged chapter.
