Some places feel less like locations and more like characters in the story. Rialto Beach is one of them — a stretch of Washington coastline shaped by wind, salt, driftwood, and time. It’s wild in the most cinematic way, and it has a way of pulling emotion to the surface without ever trying.
I’ve known these two since their wedding back in 2022 at the breathtaking Thornewood Castle, a venue filled with old-world charm and fairytale romance.
That day felt timeless — elegant, warm, full of celebration.
But this August evening at Rialto Beach carried a different kind of magic. Softer. More intimate. A new chapter forming in the pause before parenthood.
A WIND-SWEPT MATERNITY SESSION ROOTED IN STORY
By the time we stepped onto the sand, the beach was already doing what the Washington coast does best: creating mood. The air was cold for August, the wind was unapologetic, and the waves kept stretching toward us like they wanted to be part of the moment.
They didn’t resist any of it.
Instead, they leaned into each other — walking slowly along the shoreline, letting the wind wrap around them, laughing when the waves came too close. Nothing felt posed. Nothing felt forced. Every gesture came naturally, shaped by the rhythm of the coast and the anticipation of what’s coming next.
There’s a tenderness that appears when two people are standing on the edge of parenthood — a softness even the wind can’t disrupt. You could feel it in the way they held each other, in the quiet glances exchanged between gusts, in the way their hands rested gently over new life.
It wasn’t perfect weather, but it was perfect storytelling.
